Seasonal Grounds Coordinator

A seasonal (April 15 through October), part-time position. The schedule is flexible and will be approximately 20 hours a week.
 

This unique position at a gorgeous, rural nonprofit retreat center requires someone who has two green thumbs, can make a plan, continually adjust the sails, and enjoys increasing access to nature to help those experiencing life challenges. The Grounds Coordinator works with staff and volunteer team to make plans and strategizes needed maintenance and improvements to the overall grounds. They manage 12 gardens, maintain and improve 64 acres, handle minor building repairs, assist with in-ground pool oversight, and manage environmental improvements.

 

The position is part time and will be seasonal from mid-April through October. The hours of this positon are flexible and will be approximately 20 hours a week.

 

This is no ordinary gardening role; we seek a magical person who can make our grounds shine!

 

Responsibilities

  • Work with a small staff and volunteer team to plan yearly grounds maintenance and improvements.

  • Maintain and improve 12 gardens including plants, flower beds, and shrubbery. This involves weeding, watering, planting, fertilizing, and other upkeep.

  • Direct and supervise volunteers who assist with maintaining gardens.

  • Provide landscape maintenance including pruning and trimming, hand mowing, and removing invasive plants.

  • Assist with some building projects to enhance programming and facilities. Also, continually work to make the property more accessible and attractive for groups to rent or use a day camp.

  • Additional property management duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Have knowledge of plants and landscape horticulture.

  • Ability to work with diverse populations and is a team player.

  • Ability to supervise volunteers.

  • Detailed oriented and excellent planning skills.

  • Ability to provide care to plants using natural pest management.

  • Reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s License.
